Thai airports operator Airports of Thailand (AOT) is again searching for a new president, following the resignation of incumbent Chana U-sathaporn.
AOT says in a statement to the Stock Exchange of Thailand
that Chana’s resignation will take effect from 5 August. It says he
resigned for health reasons, although local media reports quote sources
as saying he resigned due to political pressure.
The publicly traded, government-controlled operator of the country’s
major airports says Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport general manager
Serirat Prasutanond will be acting president until a new president is
appointed.
Chana was named AOT’s president in September last year, replacing
Chotisak Asapaviriya who had resigned months earlier amid troubles at Suvarnabhumi Airport`.
A long-serving Thai Air Force official, Chana became president just
months before an elected government took power in Thailand to replace a
government that was appointed by the military following a coup in 2006.
