full-scale commercial service at 3 a.m. on September 28 when Don Muang

will be proud of Suvarnnabhumi airport which is the largest airport in
South East Asia and Thailand will be the hub of regional aviation.
To

factor that effect on East in Thailand because it is located in
Samutprakarn which is the gateway to the East, not far from Chonburi
and Chacherngsao. Therefore Suvarnbhumi being situated at the heart of
business growing in East such as the business sector, industry and

information in relation to this airport.
Suvarnbhumi Airport is a large international airport
that is very important in supplementing to the development the
business, society, tourism and other facets of Thailand. The government
planned the construction the airport as a symbolic period for the
nation. All organizations had to coordinate for progress the project to
be completed in time in order to attain the goal.
Later this
summer, Suvarnabhumi Airport will be opened open in Thailand, replacing
the 91 year old Don Muang International Airport in Bangkok.
Suvarnnabhumi, meaning “Golden Land” is in an area known as Nong Ngu
Hao, or “Cobra Swamp”. The complex covers 32 square kilometers, and has
the world’s tallest control tower (132 meters). The passenger terminal
has 360 check-in counters, 120 gates, and accommodations for handling
45 million passengers a year. Surrounding the airport are flooded rice
paddies. Suvarnnabhumi Airport covers an area of some 20,000 rai (8,000
acres). The new international airport is located about 15 km off the
East-bound Bangna-Trat Highway in Bang Phli District, Samut Prakarn
Province and is about 25 km. from downtown Bangkok.
Adjacent to
the land reserved for core airport activities, the 8000 acres airport
site provides flexibility for the development of real estate
activities. An Airport City will take shape in 2006 in the area
surrounding the new airport and will involve investments totaling 135
billion baht over 30 years. The Airport City is designed to accommodate
financial and commercial services including retail and entertainment
businesses in order to attract industry and help Suvannabhumi Airport
compete with other international airports in the region and, as well
as, to generate additional substantial revenue to the airport.
A
selected list of activities which will complement and enhance the image
of Suvarnnabhumi Airport is being studied. They include additional
hotels, conference/convention halls and exhibition complexes, warehouse
facilities in connection with air cargo activities, industrial space
and leisure shopping facilities, and industries that are of extremely
time-sensitive. A definite master land use plan for the development of
strategic real estate activities will be developed not only to generate
greater revenue for Suvarnnabhumi Airport and AOT but also to
contribute to its attractiveness as a major aviation hub.
